Managing for High Performance
The aim of this programme is to take participant managers right to the nub of what management is all about.
We begin by analyzing a profile of an ‘effective empowering manager’ and making a personal assessment (based on feedback obtained from pre-programme conversations and questionnaires) against this profile.
We investigate the key skills of:
- Job design
- Goal and objective setting
- Communicating skilfully
- Allocation versus delegation
- Standard setting
- Expressing expectations
- Giving informal and formal feedback
- Holding performance management meetings
- Reward and discipline techniques
Managers design their own implementation plans which they follow through back at the workplace.
On-going feedback and validation form part of this programme.
The conventional definition of management is getting work done through people, but real management is developing people through work
