Brendan Martin

Brendan, a business and economics graduate from the National University of Ireland, is a writer, journalist and training consultant. During his 25 years of experience he has tutored journalists in the UK, Ireland, USA and the Far East and has trained both those entering the profession and experienced journalists keen to sharpen their skills and learn new ones.

He is a trainer in internal communications, an NVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier and media law tutor for the Periodicals Training Council (PTC), the training arm of the PPA.

In addition to his training work, Brendan is a freelance journalist who has contributed to a wide range of newspapers and magazines. Among the titles he has worked for are The Times, Daily Express, Sunday Mirror, Music Week, Computer Weekly, Woman’s Own and the Irish Independent Group. He has been an editor of three titles through the years. Previously he was Features Editor of TV Times and has also worked for Radio Times. He spent some years with RTE in Dublin where he worked as a sub-editor, chief sub, feature writer, reporter and production editor before becoming Editor of Ireland’s largest selling magazine, the RTE Guide. He has also worked as a radio broadcaster and television scriptwriter. His credits include The Two Ronnies, Dave Allen at Large, Not the Nine O’Clock News, The Bill and radio’s The Archers.

Brendan is currently a Visiting Lecturer at City University, London, the University of the Arts, London and has also lectured at Oxford University.
